2 Prayers for this season

Emmanuel,
The choirs sing peace on earth
while the festive crowds feast
and dump waste into bins.
Meanwhile migrants are offered
the opposite of welcome,
The planet needs healing,
Violence and conflict rage and
Many people are without the basics:
Food, shelter, water, warmth, love.
Forgive us for how we have wandered
Far from the meaning of your glorious
Incarnation, from the simplicity and purity
of your love made human and being born
Into the mess of the world.
Foster in us the expanse of generosity and hope,
And freedom to boldly care.
Fill us with the courage we need to shed our fears
and find new ways to promote the common good.
We pray this through You and Your transforming love,
Holy Jesus, and in union with the Holy Spirit that animates all hope.
Amen.

Holy One of Light and Peace,
We cry out to you during
this challenging and chaotic time,
Asking for Your Spirit to illuminate
the Truth that matters most:
You, and Your holy Way.
When we are tempted to
overconsume or fret,
We ask you to clear the clutter
that distracts us from You.
We ask you to still the rush,
quiet the noise, and calm our minds.
Liberate us from excess and distress,
Great Love, so that by your grace
may we cling only to your love, your will:
to the heart that holds us deep,
restores our strength
and renews our vision.
We pray this through Jesus, the Christ,
who came to us as a vulnerable infant
revealing your love and humility.
Amen.
